Backing away from Ludwig’s hug, you looked at him with serious eyes. “Let’s go, Ludwig.” Ludwig looked at you as if you turned insane. “But (name), you just recovered!” But he saw that your eyes were very determined, and there was no way he could stop you.

Sighing, Ludwig nodded. He then picked you up bridal style, and set you down on the ground. “Throw a knife at me. If I can’t catch it, you can go.” You pouted, jokingly saying, “But Luddy, you know that’s impossible!” Ludwig shook his head. Sighing, you picked up your combat knife. “Here goes!” Throwing the knife with all your strength, the knife tore through the air, and stabbing the wall.

*Ludwig POV*

I knew she was very strong, but I didn’t expect that I would be unable to even touch the knife before it hit the wall. Looking at (name), no one would ever know that her combat capabilities were this high. She’s on par with me, as well as a combat prodigy. I should never underestimate her… Is this what bruder meant by scary women?

“Hey Ludwig, give me an answer already!”
(name) made an annoyed expression, but I knew that she was doing it just to play around with me. I wanted to smile, but tried as hard as I can to keep this image of the strict, stoic guy she thought of me. I don’t want her to see that I care too much for her, nor do I want her to think that I am a weak man.

“Luddy, I’m sorry.” Why is she apologizing? I should be the one. “I dragged you into this mess, and now you’re caught up in my plans.”
Seems like I was wrong in my judgement. She never really cared about who I was on the outside. (name) loved me. She already saw through me, knew that I was too kind for my own good, and for her own safety. She knows that I feel torn. “But I have to do what I have to. Please, Luddy, give me this chance to save and apologize to my sister!”

All I wanted was her. Ever since that day we met in school. And to say that it was love at first sight wasn’t far from the truth. I felt from her a certain kindness, something I had lacked as a killing machine in the underworld. But now she’s here with me. I don’t care what happens to me.  

It’s not as if I can deny the girl I like anyway…

*Normal POV*

Ludwig sighed, clearly suppressing his emotions, even though he knew you could see through him anyway. You knew that Ludwig became a kind person just for you, but he hides it, scared that you would reject him for showing his weakness. “Please, Ludwig. There’s no need to for you to stop me. You know I'm strong enough to get through this."

“I don’t think I can stop you anyway.” Cheering, you packed two bags of supplies, and threw Ludwig one. He caught it effortlessly. You called Ludwig, and both of you looked out of the window, and saw that there were more hit men than usual. You figured that everyone was guarding the home in case the Kirkland family might attack, but you also knew that they were also out there to keep you in.

“Ludwig, I think that we should go out the main door.” Ludwig nodded, knowing that you had a plan in mind. Walking out of your bedroom calmly, you held hands with Ludwig. Passing your subordinates casually, you and Ludwig walked slowly. But everyone stopped you from walking forward out of the door.

“Lady (name), you do not have any permission from your father to leave the mansion. Please go back to your bedroom.” Talking with a monotone voice, your servant, Maria, stopped you from leaving. “Even if it’s to go out on a date with Ludwig?” Showing Maria your entwined hands and intimate bodies provoked her, and she closed her eyes with his fists clenched. “Lady (name), there is a time and place for that! But not now! Please don't mock me, just because I can’t get a boyfriend! I will do my job even if you try to distract me!” “But I already did?” Seeing that the window was open, and you and Ludwig were on the tree, Maria realized her mistake in trying to suppress her anger, and ranting, giving you time to escape.

“Tch!” Clicking her tongue with annoyance, Maria yelled at the top of her lungs,“Everyone! Catch Lady (name) and Herr Beilschmidt!” Laughing, you said, “Like hell you will, Maria!” Jumping from tree to tree and dodging the anesthetic bullets, Ludwig held you in his arms as you clung on to him. Looking up, you whispered, “Thanks for coming with me, Ludwig.” Ludwig looked at you and smiled, taking you and jumping off the wall. “It’s fine. I knew that your people were listening in the hallway. You only said going out of the main door to distract them, didn’t you?”

You couldn’t hear Ludwig’s question. To be captured by his smile, I… Until now, you never really saw Ludwig smile. And now that you looked at him, you became mesmerized. If he looks so good smiling, he should have done it in the first place… “Let’s go, (name). Maria’s going to catch us.” Hearing Ludwig’s voice again, you broke out of the trance you were in, and started to sprint with Ludwig, trying to catch up with him.

Seeing that you were still half-daydreaming, Ludwig took you hand and pulled you in front of him. “Danke!” Taking a sharp turn, you and Ludwig scaled the walls of Roderich’s house (which just happened to be there) and hid inside his mansion grounds.

“They went into Herr Edelstein’s mansion!” “Find  them!” Keeping quiet, you and Ludwig hid behind the trees. “What is this commotion in my mansion?” Roderich and Elizabeta walked out, with Roderich reloading a handgun and Elizabeta readying her frying pan. “Herr Beilschmidt and Lady (name) is hiding in your mansion grounds, Herr Edelstein. Please give your permission to search the grounds.” Roderich merely glared at Maria with his cold violet eyes. “I don’t want any intruders searching my mansion at this time of night. I cannot guarantee your safety, and I will not let you search.” Maria merely replied coldly in return, “Then I guess this alliance has been off for a while?”

Elizabeta’s eyes flared up with fury, and in a blink, twisted and restrained Maria, sitting on top of her. You peered at them from behind the trees, and shrunk back, hoping no one saw you. That’s Elizabeta for you… She is the Frying Pan Devil after all…  Maria shouted with killing intent, “Give us Lady (name)!” Roderich sneered, as Elizabeta gave her the death glare and pushed Maria’s head down with her frying pan. “Choose your words carefully, Maria… I won’t hesitate to kill you.” Roderich smiled sadistically and spat, “Never make the Frying Pan Devil angry… Maria.”

Maria’s eyebrows were knitted, knowing that she did not have the strength to oppose Elizabeta or Roderich. Gritting her teeth, and clicking her tongue, she gave in and sighed, “I apologize, please let me go.” As Elizabeta released her, Maria stood up. “Forgive me for being rude. Lady (name) has just recovered from being poisoned, but she escaped. I think she might have come here.” Hearing that you were poisoned shocked Elizabeta, but she replied calmly, “If I find her, I will stop her from going anywhere.”

“My condolences to (name). I will find her, under the condition that you leave, Maria.” Seeing that Maria was biting back on her anger, Roderich attempted to pacify the situation.  “Danke, Herr Edelstein. Men, we are moving back to HQ.” After Maria bowed and left fuming, Roderich called out to you. “(name), you’re there aren’t you?”

As you stepped out with Ludwig, Elizabeta ran out to hug you. “Are you alright, (name)? I can’t have you die on me just yet!” Hugging Elizabeta, you gave Roderich an apologetic smile. “I owe you two so much. Thanks!” Roderich merely pushed his frames up, and replied coolly, “Bitte. At least you told Eliza and me that you were going to be here, unlike that uneducated Bürgerliche (commoner).” With a furrowed brow, Roderich continued with an annoyed tone, “Who in their right mind would want someone to search their mansion at midnight?”    

Ludwig also apologized and thanked Roderich, and Roderich smirked, thinking of the uses that Ludwig could have. “Well, you’re invited to the next party I will hold for close friends, and you shall help me bake stollen.” Ludwig immediately flinched, and you could see that he had already regretted his decision and judgement. Probably because Ludwig’s going to be the one to clean up the mess…

“(name). Are you really going after Arthur?” Hearing Elizabeta’s worried voice, you faced her seriously. “I will be fine, Elizabeta. I will get my sister back, and all of us will come to your party, alive and kicking.” Despite being worried, Elizabeta smiled. “Of course. If (name) (last name) were to die, disgracing herself and her family, I don’t think I would ever forgive you. I know I won’t be able to stop you anyway… so, I’m going with you.”

Elizabeta’s sudden decision surprised everyone, including you. “Wait, Eliza, you can’t leave Roderich here! You know that he is often targeted as well, don’t you?”  Your heart raced. “Well, she is my responsibility, and so, I shall also go.” Even Ludwig is surprised. “Roderich, you know better than to go! You’re not suited to close hand combat! I know you are trained, but-“

Raising his eyebrows, Roderich cut Ludwig off coolly, “I will act as support.” Elizabeta nodded, and stared at both of you and Ludwig. The intensity of the stare made you and Ludwig give up. “Fine. Come with us.” Elizabeta fist-pumped, and all four off you headed off towards the Kirkland manor.

*Back at your house*

*Your father’s POV*

“Sir, Lady (name) has escaped!” I turned around to face Maria. “It’s fine, Maria. I knew (name) will go out anyway. If she couldn’t get out, then she wouldn’t have been able to fight the Kirklands.” I said calmly. (name) is always one of the strongest. She won’t just lose to our rivals just like that… “Sir, Herr Edelstein didn’t give us permission to search his place, because he helped Lady (name)!” “Maria, don’t be impertinent to our allies. If you do, you shall receive a punishment worse than going to hell.” I replied coldly and slowly, emphasizing each of my words.

Maria’s body trembled, but she bowed, saying, “Yes, Boss. I shall take my leave.” Closing the door slowly, Maria exited the room as I stared at the door.
